Fraudsters have recently impersonated shopping platforms or banks, claiming to issue “refunds”. They may attempt to trick customers into downloading suspicious applications or tapping their credit/debit cards against the NFC area on the back of a mobile phone. Please remain vigilant.

Key reminders:

  • ICBC (Asia) will never ask you to tap your credit or debit card on the back of a phone for NFC verification or unlocking.
  • We will never request your login password, one‑time password (OTP), or card details via phone calls, emails, or SMS.
  • Do not download or install applications from unknown websites or SMS messages, and avoid clicking suspicious links.
  • Never disclose personal information, banking passwords, card details, or OTPs to unknown third parties.
  • Carefully review ICBC (Asia) notifications before approving any transaction. If the request was not initiated by you, please call 2189 5588 immediately.

Special reminder for senior customers: Use “Money Safe” (智安存)

  • “Money Safe” allows you to lock part or all of your deposits in your account. Once locked, funds cannot be transferred online, via mobile banking, or at ATMs. To unlock, you must visit a branch in person for identity verification.
  • Locked deposits are more secure and less vulnerable to immediate fraudulent transfers.
  • How to activate: visit any ICBC (Asia) branch, or use ICBC (Asia) Mobile Banking / Personal Internet Banking. For current/savings accounts, the minimum lock amount is 1,000 units of the account currency.
  • Family members are welcome to accompany elderly customers to branches for enquiries and activation.

If you suspect fraud:
Please call 2189 5588 immediately, or report to the Police at 999 / Anti‑Scam Hotline 18222.
