Simple Application Procedures

Applying for “Greater Bay Area Account Opening” Service does not require a Chinese mainland address proof. You will simply need to:


  • Visit ICBC (Asia) branches and provide valid Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card, Home Visit Permit and real-name registered Chinese mainland1 or Hong Kong mobile number.
  • After receiving the notification of successful application, you can visit the designated branch in person to collect and activate the debit card (ATM card)2, and complete the card password setting to activate the account.

Manage Your Accounts Anytime, Anywhere

You can self-register for ICBC’s online banking and mobile banking services. You can also check the balance, transaction details, locate account opening branches and more by binding the WeChat official account - “ICBC Customer Service”. Customer can download an ICBC App “融e聯” to receive complimentary account activity alert.


RMB Remittance Service

You can use the RMB remittance service through ICBC (Asia) branches, personal internet banking/mobile banking to quickly transfer RMB to the Chinese mainland at a low service charge. A maximum of RMB ¥10,000 can be transferred to a same name account per day. Relevant charges for RMB remittance service are subject to the service charges published on the ICBC (Asia) website (www.icbcasia.com).


Withdrawing Cash in the Chinese Mainland

Type II account of “Greater Bay Area Account Opening” service includes a debit card2 that allows you to withdraw cash from over 80,000 ICBC ATMs in the Chinese mainland at any time3 with no handling fees.


Easy Linkage with the Chinese Mainland Mobile Electronic Payment Applications

The Chinese mainland ICBC account can be linked with the Chinese mainland mobile electronic payment applications. This enables you to add value and make payments anytime and anywhere, allowing you to enjoy the convenience of e-payment services in the Chinese mainland.

If the customer does not have a real-name registered the Chinese mainland mobile number, the above functions may be affected.

General Terms and Conditions:

“Greater Bay Area Account Opening” Service is only applicable to personal banking customer of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited (“ICBC (Asia)”/ the “bank”).

The customer mentioned in clause 1 above (“eligible customer”) must hold a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card, Home Visit Permit and real-name registered mobile number of the Chinese mainland or Hong Kong.

ICBC (Asia) will only provide the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (“ICBC”) type II and III account attestation service to eligible customer. For any other services related to the ICBC account, including but not limited to full-featured type I account application, ATM card renewal/ATM card password reset, other ICBC service applications, personal or account information amendment and account termination, please visit any of the ICBC branches’ teller counter in person.

“Greater Bay Area Account Opening” Service is subject to relevant terms and conditions. For details, please contact ICBC (Asia) staff.

ICBC type II and III account services are subject to ICBC’s relevant terms and conditions. The account functions, charges or other relevant service offer may be modified from time to time. For details, please refer to the relevant terms and conditions announced on the ICBC website.

Customer should follow the Chinese mainland account deposit and balance limit while transferring money to the Chinese mainland account. Excess deposit may be returned. ICBC and the clearing institution may charge a handling fee upon the return of remittance.

In case of dispute, the decision of ICBC and ICBC (Asia) shall be final and conclusive.

Any person or entity that is not a party to these Terms and Conditions shall have no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap. 623, Laws of Hong Kong) to enforce any part of these Terms and Conditions.

In case of any discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions of the Terms and Conditions, the Chinese version shall apply and prevail.
