Recently, at the opening ceremony of RMB card acceptance in U.S. jointly held by China Union Pay and America Discover Financial Services Company, Peony Money Link Card issued by ICBC successfully completed the first RMB UnionPay card spending transaction at Macy's Department Store in New York. This marked the formal start of Peony Money Link Card acceptance in U.S. The international service of Money Link Card further expanded.

Spokesman of ICBC introduced that Peony Money Link Card is accepted in more and more foreign countries as the internationalization process of China UnionPay card accelerated in recent years. Following the acceptance of Peony Money Link Card in Hong Kong and Macau in 2004, countries as Singapore, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Germany, France, Spain and Luxembourg are added this year. According to the international acceptance promotion plan of China Union Pay, Peony Money Link Card will be gradually accepted in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Malaysia by end of this year or at beginning of next year.

The spokesman also mentioned that according to the regulations of UnionPay Card International Acceptance Service, when spending by Peony Money Link Card abroad, only the transaction is in local currency, the following settlement is all in RMB in the basic account of the card, all formalities and operations in the use of the card is basically the same as in China. Cardholder does not need to pay any handling fee when spending abroad at merchants with "UnionPay Card" acceptance mark. Daily-accumulated cash withdrawal per card at overseas ATMs cannot exceed the amount of foreign currency equal to RMB 5,000.
