ICBC Tops China’s Brand Value List for the Sixth Time

Recently, the results of 2021 Chinese brand value evaluation was officially released in Shanghai during the fifth “China Brand Day” event. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) tops China’s Brand Value List for the sixth time since 2014, with a brand value of RMB313.012 billion.

As reported, the 2021 Chinese brand value evaluation is an event initiated by Xinhua News Agency and the China Council for Brand Development along with other institutions, to assess the value of Chinese independent brands. This year, 695 of the 1,266 participating brands were on the list, including the bellwethers in most sectors, of which 16 companies have a brand value of over RMB100 billion. Brand value is obtained by evaluating and scoring each enterprises separately on the basis of the national brand evaluation standards for various industries. It is worth noting that ICBC’s brand value has seen a steady year-by-year growth from RMB272.16 billion in 2014, and even a faster increase in recent two years, amounting to RMB313.012 billion in 2021, up by 4.6% over the previous year. Thus, ICBC has become the first Chinese financial company with a brand value exceeding RMB300 billion. The annually increasing brand value has strongly justified the fruitful results ICBC has made in promoting high-quality development.

Following strategic guidance in recent years, ICBC put forward and carried out a series of Group strategies such as “No.1 Personal Bank”, “Serving China’s Coordinated Development of Regions”, and “Preferred Bank for Domestic Foreign Exchange Business” to fully support the national economic and social development. Sticking to technology empowerment, the Bank has risen to an industry leader in cloud computing, distributed platforms and other important technology nodes, establishing its inter-generational advantages in FinTech. ICBC, firmly performing its social responsibilities with greater efforts, has developed a characteristic ICBC pattern in assisting urban-rural interconnected development and rural revitalization, practicing green financial services, benefiting the people and the general welfare.

With the eight advantages in “scale, customers, services, technology, brand, channels, risk control, and talents”, ICBC has demonstrated strong overall strength and brand influence. Up to now, ICBC had ranked first among Top 1000 World Banks by the British magazine The Banker for eight consecutive years, the Forbes Global 2000 and the sub-list of commercial banks of Fortune Global 500. What’s more, it has topped the Top 500 Banking Brands of the Brand Finance for five years in a row.
