Spain's Consumer Confidence Rises by 0.5 Points in August
 

Spain's consumer confidence rose by 0.5 points from July to August to 108.8 points, indicating an optimistic perspective about the Spanish economic situation, the Sociological Research Centre (CIS) reported on Monday.

The Consumer Confidence Indicator (CCI) ranges between 0 and 200 points, with ratings over 100 points considered as positive perceptions of the economic situation and ratings below that figure indicating a negative perception.

The CCI has been rising for three months in a row after having fallen by 1.3 points in May.

The CIS reported that the indicator of the current economic situation increased by 2 points since July to 105.4 points, while the indicator of the economic expectations about the future fell by 1 point to 112.1 points.

On a year-on-year basis, the CCI rose by 11.5 points when compared with August 2016 with the indicator of the current economic situation rising by 15.3 points and the indicator of the expectations about the future increasing by 7.7 points.

The CIS does more than 1,500 interviews for the CCI which helps forecast consumers' behavior helping predict the country's economic performance.
