Lithuania's President Invited to Participate Davos Forum by WEF Chairman

Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), personally invited on Thursday Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaite to take part in the next year's Davos forum.

The invitation is interpreted in Lithuania as "the best possible evidence of Lithuania's success in establishing itself on the global arena as a vibrant, innovative and reliable economy," Grybauskaite was quoted as saying in a statement released by the presidency.

According to the head of the state, Lithuania is already known in the world for its achievements in the areas of ultra-high-speed fiber optic internet, laser industry, also for its strategic location and multilingual IT talent.

"The world also highly values Lithuania's experience in gaining energy independence," Grybauskaite added.

Among other issues, cyber threats were discussed during Grybauskaite meeting with the chairman of the WEF.

Professor Schwab, who founded the forum in 1971, arrived in Lithuania to take part in the annual Economic Forum organized by Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists.

He will also present in Vilnius his book "The Fourth Industrial Revolution" translated into Lithuanian.

Davos Forum, which each year gathers the world's most influential political figures, businesspersons and opinion makers, will take place at the beginning of 2018.
