Tokyo Stocks Open Lower on Wall Street's Weak Lead, Trump's Remark Sends Pharmaceuticals Lower-March 8
 

Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday with early market moves here taking a lead from a weak showing on Wall Street overnight, with U.S. President Donald Trump tweeting about lowering drug prices adding pressure to pharmaceutical issues.

As markets opened here, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 66.09 points, or 0.34 percent, from Tuesday to 19,278.06.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 4.31 points, or 0.28 percent, to 1,550.73.

Early decliners comprised pharmaceutical, nonferrous metal, and oil and coal-lined issues.
