Tokyo shares closed flat Thursday on halt of rallies over the past week following Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 0.42 points, or 0.00 percent, from Wednesday at 17,862.63.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 1.43 points, or 0.10 percent, higher at 1,423.08.
Gainers were led by air transportation and mining issues, while decliners were led by securities and insurance issues.
The day's turnover was around 2,428.5 billion yen (22.28 billion U.S. dollars).
