Singapore stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 28.65 points, or 0.89 percent, to close at 3,201.77.

A total of 2.25 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.12 billion Singapore dollars (about 807.6 million U.S. dollars). Gainers and losers were 153 and 275 respectively.

The STI index dropped 16.76 points, or 0.52 percent, to close at 3,230.42 Tuesday.
