Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 18.91 points, or 0.64 percent, to close at 2,981.54.

A total of 2.14 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 881.2 million Singapore dollars (611.6 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 265 to 177, while 648 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 8.49 points, or 0.29 percent, to close at 2,962.63 on Jan. 6.
