French stock market index, the CAC 40, gained 0.11 percent and closed at 4,960.48 points on Wednesday.

The CAC 40 of Paris closed up on Wednesday, up 5.48 points, with 24 of the 40 selected companies experiencing increase.

The top three gainers were SOCIETE GENERAL, up 1.45 percent, ESSILOR INTL., up 1.16 percent, and SOLVAY, up 1.14 percent.

The three companies of which the stock prices dropped the most were LAFARGEHOLCIM, down 1.35 percent, TOTAL, down 1.13 percent, and RENAULT, down 0.90 percent.

In the previous trading day, the CAC 40 dropped 0.35 percent and closed at 4,955.00 points on Tuesday.
