German stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 74.54 points, or 0.59 percent, to close at 12,764.98 points.

German airlines Lufthansa won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.16 percent. Multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement and Marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities Deutsche Boerse rose by 1.90 percent and 1.87 percent respectively.

Beiersdorf, a German personal-care company, lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 0.79 percent. Energy group E.ON and Deutsche Telekom went down by 0.28 percent and 0.26 percent, respectively.

Insurance group Alianz was the most-traded share with a turnover of 220.10 million euros (246.88 million U.S. dollars).
