French stocks dropped on Friday, with the benchmark Paris CAC40 index down 0.46 percent, or 22.94 points, to close at 4,972.19 points

Only 9 of the 40 selected big companies gained in the day.

French car manufacturer Peugeot went up by 2.73 percent, becoming the top bluechip winner. Aerospace giant Safran edged up 0.58 percent. Luxury holding group Kering was up 0.49 percent.

French oil and gas firm Technipefmc lost 3.15 percent, the top loser among the blue chips. Banking giant Societe Generale went down 2.01 percent. Steel giant ArcelorMittal dropped 1.83 percent.
