Chinese stocks opened higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.49 percent, at 3,125.33 points.

The smaller Shenzhen Component index opened 0.86 percent higher at 9,944.12 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was up 1.02 percent to open at 1,777.65 points.
