Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.52 percent to close at 3,156.21 points.

The smaller Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.76 percent higher at 10,367.17 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was up 0.20 percent to close at 1,824.69 points.
