Chinese shares closed higher on Monday, with the key Shanghai index up 0.48 percent.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.48 percent to end at 3,233.87 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.2 percent higher at 10,522.28 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.79 percent to close at 1,962.77 points.
