FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Tuesday rose by 0.52 percent, or 37.70 points, to 7,275.47 points.
Share price of Anglo American increased by 9.03 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Tesco, Rio Tinto, Smurfit Kappa Group and Fresnillo increased by 6.77 percent, 6.41 percent, 5.68 percent and 4.53 percent respectively.
Centrica led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 2.87 percent, following by Admiral Group (2.73 percent), Direct Line Insurance Group (2.11 percent), Prudential (2.02 percent) and DCC (1.85 percent).
