ICBC (Asia) launches a brand new “Cross-boundary Wealth management Connect - Southbound Scheme” account opening experience, supporting eligible customers to submit account opening application on mobile banking anywhere, anytime. Just 3 steps to complete account opening identity verification at ease.

Step 3: Visit Chinese mainland ICBC branch to complete identity verification

  • Visit selected Chinese mainland ICBC branch to complete identity verification.
    • Bring along valid PRC identity card, the Chinese mainland Residents Travel Permit to Hong Kong and Macao (if filled in the application form) and residential address proof in the past three months (if the address is as same as the one shown on PRC identity card, the PRC identity card can be used as address proof).
  • ICBC (Asia) will give further notice on the account opening result.

Risks relating to RMB: The Chinese Renminbi is currently a restricted currency. Due to the exchange controls and/or restrictions which may be imposed by the PRC government on the convertibility or utilization of RMB from time to time, there is no guarantee that disruption in the transferability, convertibility or liquidity of RMB will not occur. There is thus a likelihood that you may not be able to convert the Chinese Renminbi received into other freely convertible currencies.
