General Frequently Asked Questions of the Prepaid Card

A: Cardholder can use the Prepaid Card for retail transactions with merchants displaying VISA, MasterCard or UnionPay logo as applicable and accepting VISA, MasterCard or UnionPay card as a means of payment, up to the prepaid value designated to the Prepaid Card when it is issued. The Prepaid Card is signature-based without the need to input PIN. The use of Prepaid Card shall be subject to the terms and conditions of the Cardholder Agreement for the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited Prepaid Card.

A: The Prepaid Card can be purchased at any branches of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited ("the Bank"). There is no need for any approval.

A: Yes. The cardholder of the Prepaid Card must be aged 18 or above.

A: The Prepaid Card can be used at any merchants that accept VISA, MasterCard, UnionPay cards as applicable for payment purpose. Unlike a merchants’ cash voucher, which limits your purchases only at the designated merchants, you can use the Prepaid Card at any merchants wherever the VISA, MasterCard or UnionPay logo as applicable is displayed and accepting VISA, MasterCard or UnionPay and as a means of payment. For the bank gift voucher, the recipients need to deposit the bank gift voucher in their bank account first before they can use the value of the gift voucher.

A: The Prepaid Card is a prepaid stored value card issued by the Bank with a minimum prepaid value of HK$100 but subject to a maximum prepaid value of HK$7,500. The Prepaid Card is applicable to electronic transactions for retail purchases only but does not allow any ATM access or cash advance. Unlike credit card, no credit limit will be provided to Prepaid Card.

A: You can activate the Prepaid Card by simply signing at the back of the Prepaid Card before use. The Prepaid Card can be used at any merchants wherever the VISA, MasterCard or UnionPay logo as applicable is displayed and that accept VISA, MasterCard or UnionPay card for payment with effect on the day following the day on which you purchased the Prepaid Card.

A: The Bank will maintain an account for each Prepaid Card issued and the balance in the account will be reduced after each purchase in accordance with the value of each transaction. The transaction will be declined if the prepaid value designated to the Prepaid Card has been fully used up or the remaining balance in the account is not sufficient to cover the value of the transaction.

A: After the Prepaid Card’s issuance, no further prepaid stored value can be credited into the Prepaid Card.

A: The Prepaid Card cannot be used for transactions made at any local or overseas ATMs, cash advances, transactions processed by manually imprinted sales slips, mail orders, phone orders, online orders, autopay or bill payments, transactions made at casinos, on aeroplanes or on ocean liners, or such other transactions and/or at such other places or terminals which the Bank may from time to time publish.

A: You can check the balance of the Prepaid Card by calling our Customer Service Hotline at 218 95588.

A: The expiry date of the Prepaid Card is imprinted on the Prepaid Card under "VALID THRU", the first 2-digit is Month, and the last 2-digit is Year. Once the prepaid value of the Prepaid Card has used up or the expiry date printed on the Prepaid Card has passed, the Prepaid Card will be invalid. You are not required to return the Prepaid Card to the Bank and you may keep the Prepaid Card as a souvenir.

A: The Prepaid Card is anonymous and is similar to cash. Possession of the Prepaid Card is a sufficient proof of ownership. If the Prepaid Card is lost, stolen or captured in an ATM, the Bank will not issue a replacement card or refund any of the prepaid value. If the Prepaid Card is mal-functioned due to reasons other than the fault of the cardholder, the Bank may, at its discretion, issue a replacement card with the remaining balance in and remaining expiry period of the mal-functioning Prepaid Card upon return of the Prepaid Card to the Bank. The Bank reserves the right to charge a fee or an amount that the Bank may announce and publish from time to time.
